Property Rights

Mickey Channell believes the government should not be allowed to seize private property at will for enhancing economic development. He believes our Founding Fathers had it right when they placed the taking clause in the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, setting a firm foundation which should always protect private property from unlawful seizure by an overreaching government, including seizure for economic gain.

Mickey Channell believes the use of eminent domain for the creation of tax revenue creates a dangerous precedent. He believes the government’s job is to protect the property rights of families and small businesses. Mickey will continue fighting to secure property rights for homeowners and business owners, while limiting the government’s use of eminent domain.
