Faith & Family Values

A devoted husband, father of four and grandfather of nine, Mickey Channell knows the meaning of the word family. Married for 43 years, Mickey believes that marriage is between one man and one woman, and supported legislation to define marriage as such. Mickey is pro-life, and he will support legislation that protects the life of our unborn children.

Mickey is a man of faith, and will continue to stand up against attempts to remove public displays of religion. He will continue supporting voluntary school prayer and our right to publicly post the Ten Commandments. He wants to continue fighting to allow faith-based service organizations to compete for government funding. Mickey believes that public service is a high calling and he always looks to his faith in God and his strong beliefs to guide him.

Mickey in Action

  • Supported and helped pass HB 197, or “The Woman’s Right to Know Act”. This bill sets a 24-hour waiting period from the time that a woman notifies a physician that she is seeking an abortion before the procedure is performed. The legislation requires that doctors inform a female of the medical risks and alternatives to abortion as well as the probable gestational age of the unborn child. The Act requires that minors less than eighteen years old seeking an abortion must notify their parents.
