Improving Education
As the
father of four grown children (and nine grandchildren) and having
served 12 years on the local School Board, Mickey Channell knows
that education is the key to our children’s future. With a wife who
is a former schoolteacher and two daughters who are schoolteachers,
Mickey hears firsthand the daily issues faced by educators in the
classroom.
Mickey
wants to ensure that:
-
Every child past the third grade can read.
-
SAT scores improve by building core competencies, including
reading, arithmetic and science.
-
High school dropout rates are dramatically reduced.
-
Our teachers are given more flexibility in the classroom.
-
Our teachers receive the salaries they deserve with annual
raises.
-
Parents become more involved in the education of their children
– educators alone cannot do the job.
-
Lottery money will continue to be used to enhance our children’s
education.
